• Official Music Video • HQ Audio • Subtitle Lyrics Option • Standard Volume Level • Lyrics Transcript Provided Below This video contains optional subtitles for the lyrics, and these can be activated and deactivated by simply clicking on the "CC" button beneath the video. The source video I used to create this one is here: https://youtu.be/cXelMzaCmiQ That was the best-quality upload of this music video I could find. Its worst problem is that it ends before the song ends. Its sound quality is good, but it has the volume level set too low compared to the majority of music videos. I have replaced the audio track for a high-quality, full-length one of the single, and this involved slowing down the footage slightly, as it was running a bit fast compared to the HQ audio track I am using. I have also adjust the colours slightly, increasing their intensity and making them more blue and less yellow. I have also added optional subtitles for the lyrics. This song was written by Jorge Ben (currently known as Jorge Ben Jor), and was first recorded by him on his 1963 debut album "Samba Esquema Novo". This version by Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66 was produced by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss (the two people who founded A&M Records), and was released in 1966. According to Wikipedia, this single reached No. 47 in their native USA, and apparently did not chart in any other territory. The album it was taken from, "Herb Alpert Presents Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66", reached No. 7 in the USA, and apparently this also did not chart in any other territory. For more information on this song and track, see these pages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mas_que_Nada https://www.discogs.com/Sergio-Mendes-Brasil-66-Mas-Que-Nada/master/386800 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herb_Alpert_Presents_Sergio_Mendes_%26_Brasil_%2766 I have not been able to find an official presentation of the lyrics to this song. Presented below and as optional subtitles in the video is my own transcript of the lyrics, for which I have used the transcripts found on lyrics websites as a guide, and I have found one article particularly helpful, which is found here: https://www.thebestofbrazil.info/specialfeatures3.html Please see that article for an English translation. The song's title, "Mas Que Nada", is translated as "Oh, Come On!". Wikipedia says the following about that phrase: "Brazilians use Mas que nada (in a literal translation: just nothing) colloquially to disagree with someone. A fitting English translation might be a sarcastic "Yeah, right!" or "No way!"" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mas_que_Nada#Title_meaning I have been unable to verify the accuracy of my transcript, as I do not speak Portuguese, so if you see any inaccuracies here, please let me know in the comments.
